1990 F350 7.3 Performance Question
I'm new to this forum, & have a few 7.3 diesel questions.
I'm considering buying a 1990 Ford F350 van with a very low mileage 7.3 diesel for use taking 2 vintage racing motorcycles (about 300 lbs each) to the track on race days. The truck will probably carry 2 people plus a maximum of about 1,000 lbs of tools, supplies & spare parts.
Can anyone give me a rough idea about what kind of highway performance I can expect from this (non-turbo) rig.. Approx what's the fastest highway cruising speed I can achieve without putting any undue strain on the motor, (probable speed range: from _____mph to ____mph would be fine) & what kind of fuel mileage should I expect?
With good maintenance, how many miles do these motors go before needing a full overhaul, & what does one cost?
Is it possible & practical to convert it to a turbo, & if so, which kind of performance gain could it yield, and what might such a conversion cost?
Any suggestions on post purchase preventative maintenance routine to ensure maximum economy & reliability would be most appreciated...
