92 f350 white smoke

We have a dually f350 we are trying to get rid of and the thing is constantly blowing white smoke that smells like fuel. We changed the injectors and fuel filter/water separator...no luck. I'm looking into messing with injection pump timing after looking at some posts on here. My question is what do I do? One person says take the triangle door off and use an Allen wrench and another person says loosen the pump and advance the timing. An explanation of each would be great. Thanks
