timing
I know you turn the injector pump to change timing but how do you know what to set it to? Do it by sound? If you can't connect a timing light why is there timing marks? 1991 IDI
Thanks Howard |

find someone who knows these engines. I did mine till it sound like a gas engine sparknocking, and backed it down a little. Pump to the passenger side to advance. a little change makes tons of change. DO NOT ADJUST WHILE RUNNING.

there are timing marks to locate tdc as these pumps are timed pump #1tdc @ i'll get back to you but i think its 16 degrees advance and if you find a reputable diesel shop they will have an adapter for a timing light which makes things easy and if you want a bit more power you can advance timing to 20BTDC
