Considering buying 1994 7.3 IDI Dump
I am across 1994 7.3 automatic dump bed truck locally. I am going to look at it. The seller claims newer tires, few year old paint job, and very good engine (200k milage). Also the dump bed is in good condition. The picture shows it looking in good condition but I have not seen up close...
NOW the bad, he thinks the transmission has a blown seal....
So it could be simple? or need rebuild....
He is asking 3,000 for the truck. What do y'all think? I KBB the truck at about 3000 ofcourse that is counting on a good transmission... I know KBB has become not very good on older trucks sometimes.
So what do y'all think? I am of course going to try to talk him down... What do y'all think its worth. I have looked at transmissions from Jasper being 3000. Autozone has them for 1,500. Also considering checking junk yards for used transmission... Do you think it maybe simple as a blown seal and how involved is it in replacing? I read that usually blown seal means needing new touque converter? As much incite on this deal would be greatly apprieated. The truck is for my little side landscaping company (I am manager of a large landscaping company). The side company helps pay for speak treatment for my son and donates the rest of charity (My son has autism so the charity is Autism Speaks). I know that isn't about the truck but shows its purpose of light use plus the need for not wasting a lot of cash on a truck ha. Please help!
