Defuels while driving

'94 7.3L. Engine has a little bit of a lope while idling, and when driving about somewhere around 35, engine will suddenly defuel, have to shut the truck off and start it up again, and it will be fine for about 30 seconds, and do it again. Only does it while driving, when revving it it doesn't do it. Anyone got any ideas?

Hmm when is the last time you changed your fuel filter?

I was kinda thinking that could be the problem, ordered one today, should be here tomorrow. Also forgot to mention it's turbo'd, and the check engine light will come on sometimes as well.

Changed the fuel filter, no change. Took it to a local parts place, guy put it on a scanner, the engine computer wouldn't respond to the scanner. Any ideas?

Most generic scanners won't read diesel codes. Your going to have find one that will. If you have the ses light then you have have some codes stored
