'94 IDI factory turbo upgrades I have done!
I have got quite a few things done to my '94 stock factory turbo this week. First I put a new 3" down pipe from Banks on it followed by a 3 1/2'' straight pipe. Then I installed a new air in-take from Hypermax that gets its air from the vents behind the hood! I then did a test run and found that my EGT's had dropped over 200 degrees!!! That was just what I was hoping for, so next I checked the timing only to find that the previous owner had already advanced it(probably why it already ran good) so I then I tackled the pump and turned up the fuel about 1/2 a turn. I have a little smoke at initial excelleration, not enough to make people mad, but I think it is about right. What a diff., this truck is fast!!!!!!! I don't want it too hot since I pull a 40' flatbed with it, but I think it is about right, can't wait to see how it pulls!!! I also put an aux. tranny cooler on it to protect it along with a pyro.. Overall I can't believe how good this truck runs!!! I have a friend that has a '93 factory turbo, but it never had power like this truck! His is still going with over 500,000 miles and I don't think he has even changed the injector pump! It also does'nt use any oil still, and this truck was not well maintaned, and pulled trailers every day. Before I did any thing to this truck it was pulling my 40' flatbed within 5-10mph of my 6.4, now I bet I can pull the hills at least as fast as the 6.4! Overall I have had a blast working on this good old diesel with over 289,000 miles and still running strong!!!!
