turning up the pump....
hey guys i was reading in a different thread that if you turn up the pump its unreal the difference it makes...
well im ready to take the plunge. BUT i have a couple questions. what should my EGT's be 100% stock?? what should my EGT's stay under?? and can i turn it up IF i plan on adding a hypermax turbo kit in the near future? or no should i just wait to add the kit? once the kit is on can i tweak it some with the pump?? THANKS!!!! |

What pump are you talking about turning up.

I think your assuming that PSD's have fuel pumps like the Cummins and Dura-Crap trucks. They don't. Now, getting a return-style fuel system will help a little in the top end, but it's not going to make a HUGE difference like modding the pump on the other two.

Hes got an 7.3 IDI guys he does have an injection pump

we turned up the pump on a buddy's 6.9, it smoked like a freight train, but the motor was worn out so we couldn't really tell a difference there. Go for it, just keep your extended egts uner 1250 and keep the 1300 + runs to a VERY minimum

You can turn the fuel to a 7.3 IDI and it will make a difference, but it won't be a huge gain until you add that turbo.

I turned up the pump on my 94 turbo idi and I made and incredible difference. BUT you need the pryo if your going to turn it up.
