Smile EGT probe placment on 1988 7.3 idi N/A?

where would the best place to put the probe for the egt at on my pickup?

I'd have to say, just like the PSD, it'd be the cyl#1 port on your exhaust manifold for the most accurate reading. Remove the exhaust manifold(may be a PITA), drill the hole & then tap with 1/4"npt & you've got a place to screw in your thermocoupler.

what is the best way to take off the manifold? is it to take the wheel well skirt off or???

To tell you the truth, I'm not exactly sure. The way I did it on my PSD was just getting under the truck & removing the manifold. Not sure if it's as easy for an IDI.
