92 Stalling out

The truck is intermittently doing strange things. It will start just fine, and then stalls out a few seconds after starting. Then you can crank and crank and crank and it will finally start back up again but it has to crank for a long time.

Now the problem is this isn't my personal truck but the rescue rig at the station. We all say a lot of bad words when we get a call and need to leave code and the truck stalls.

Any tips on where we should be looking?

might go for the cheap thing first and replace the lift pump on the engine. It sounds like the check valve is bad in it and fuel bleeds back towards the tanks. I have also seen them leak fuel into the engines oil so check the oil and make sure it isn't over filling. If you replace that and still have the same problem check the tank valve on the frame that diverts fuel from either tank. The lines all have O rings in them that do go bad eventually given the age of the truck. GL and i hope this helps

Thank you for the reply! I'll see if we can get a lift pump for it and let you know if it works or not.

Wanted to give an update regarding the stalling issue. After a little investigating we discovered that all of the injector return lines and hoses were leaking. Installed a new kit with hoses and repaired a significant leak at the fuel heater o-rings by installing new ones. The truck hasn't skipped a beat yet. Hope this might help somebody having similar issues.
