Transmission help

I have an 89 F250 w/ the 7.3L diesel in it. Unfortunately it only has the 3 speed automatic in it. I would like to change this over to a 5 speed automatic, but dont know if I can just get one from a later year and just bolt it on. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. By the way, this is my first diesel.

you can bolt the trans in and make it fit , the problem will be all the electronics , probably wouldnt be worth the trouble
