1990 7.3 turbo?

Ok got a buddy who just bought a 1990 350 with 7.3 and it his a turbo guy he bought it from said it was bought new that way. Im thinking he is full of it but any chance it could be some kind of proto type

BS, not sure if its 93 or 94, but one of those was the first year of factory turbo motors. My 89 7.3 turbo was swapped.

Not trying to jack this thread.....
How do you tell if the engine was a factory turbo motor, or if it had an aftermarket kit put on it? Example: I bought a spare motor that did have a turbo on it, but the guy sold the turbo before I bought it. Is there any way to identify if the engine was factory turbo or factory n/a?

Didn't come from ford that way but the dealership could have put it on also. Run the vin.
