What is high mileage and should I buy?
I have found a 93 F350 crew cab, long bed, 4x4, 5 speed, IDI N/A, and it has 285K miles for $2000. The truck has no bed but looks to be in good shape, just wondering how many mile is "high " for an IDI and is this is a good buy or not. Is the motor nearing the end? I know rebuilding an IDI can be a pain with the cavitation issue and the thin walls so I dont want to deal with that unless I could get the truck for less, what do you guys think, thanks

I just bought a 94 f350 Turbo Diesel 4x4 with 239 miles. The body is excellent, and the truck pulls hard, and runs great,.....once you get it started. If you plug it in it starts right up though. Seems to smoke a bit, mostly white smoke. I have been told that these are great old trucks, we'll see. I have been a PSD guy for years, but since they stopped building the 7.3, I sort of stay away from the newer trucks because of the initial expense. I did pay considerably more than you did, however. You can't by much for a couple of grand in these parts. I could sure use any advice on where to start getting my truck in better mechn'l shape. Is it hard to replace glowplugs, injectors, ect?
