you might take it in and have the oil preasure checked. it could be as simple as the sender for the gauge is going out... if not its probly time for a rebuild

no doubt its rebuild time, over 750,000 kilometers on it. are there tests that can be done to prove that out>

yeah i guess it would prbly be about done for... but I would imagine that you could unscreew the oil gauge sender and put a gauge on the port and see if its the sender or really low on oil preasure

what year is the truck? cause if it is a 92 or newer then dont believe the gauge. it is not a gauge it is an idiot light that looks like one. put a real gauge on it just to see.

hi! i wonder what you mean by this. my truck was made in april 92 and it has an oilpressure gauge (top left of those four small ones). the reason i found this old thread now was actually becuase i'm wondering why my oil pressure guage somtimes is in the middle ("perfect") and sometimes sits a little lower..?

also is anyone knows: whats the best oil for use in these engines? is regular 15w-40 ok or should i use that same expensive Catrol Tection that we use on the powerstrokes?

Does your truck look like mine? If it does than it has the idiot light gauge. Replace the sender and it sould fix the gauge from moving.
15-40 is a great allaround oil. That is all that I run. DO NOT USE PENZOIL.
They use perifin wax and it leaves deposits in your motor.
