7.3 IDI w/ banks sidewinder turbo

Hey guys im new to diesel engines. Im lookin at a 93 f350 with the 7.3l IDI with a banks sidewinder turbo kit. I want to know how these IDI's are. I hear of the 7.3 powerstrokes being bulletproof and what not...are these engines the same. Im looking at one with about 380k that was rebuilt completely and hasd the turbo added about 150k ago. it starts good and runs hard, do these engines give much trouble?

The IDI's are great engines and will run forever if they are taken care of. Hell most of them run a long time even if they aren't taken care of. One of the main things you'll want to look for in a 7.3 IDI is cavitation. Do a search on 7.3 IDI cavitation as there are some good articles on what it is and how to prevent it. IDI's are really simple and inexpensive to work on too.
