batt cables buy factory or make my own ?????
i got an 88 drove it home ran like new to be honest ..started a time or two an now it wont start i was told the positive battery cables are bad an im looking for a more cost effective replacement other than the local dealer telling me 130 bucs an a 2 week wait has anyone made their own or is factory the best option to go with ...i had a guy tell me to use monster cable the largest i could get an it would work fine ..i just dont wanna throw away money right now seeing it's pretty darn tight at the moment ...looking for opinions an solutions

I replaced mine on my 86 with the biggest cables I could buy from Tractor supply. I measured the old cables and got the closest I could get off the shelf. The longest one they had just did barely make it from one positive side to the other. Their working fine for me. A little smaller than original but better than old corroded cables.

Also clean all the ground cables where ever they attach. Don't trust that "they look good"!

got the factory cables an cleaned the contact spots on the grounds an she runs great now ....so now its to look into all the things i wanna try an do with it lots of ideas now its just making it happen

Glad to hear you got it running. So did you end up ordering new stock cables from the dealer or what did you do?

Welding wire is the way to go with those. Best wire out there. I have a roll of it been meaning to do it as an upgrade just havent had the time.

i got a friend who got me factory cables for free as sort of an early birthday gift really saved me a few bucks
