91 7.3
I recently bought my first diesel. I have a 91 f350 srw 7.3 idi with banks turbo kit. I was wanting to drain and replace all fluids but i dont know what kind or where to get it. I want to go synthetic. I used lucas in my cars before. And i was wanting a new exhaust. I like my stuff loud and didnt know if there was a decent exhaust that was loud or just straight pipe it also im new to turbos so how do i know if i have a wastegated turbo?

As far as the noise level of you exhaust. if you want it loud ditch the turbo and straight pipe it. with the turbo the exhaust can be straight piped and not have a drastic effect on sound b/c the turbo in effect is a muffler b/c it chops up the sound.

Why exactly do want to use synthetic oil?
I use Valvoline Heavy Duty diesel 15W-40. It is non-synthetic. It is endorsed and recomended by Cummins, Detroit Diesel, and Caterpillar. I know those are all prestigious engine manufacturing companies so i know this must be good oil. Just my opinion The pic of this turbo shows the wast gate set up. the vertical rod on the left side of the turbo is the wast gate accuator rod. If your turbo has this rod then it is gated. |
