New Member...looking for advice.
Good evening everyone! My name is Austin, and I'm new here to the forums, so please bear with me. The old man and I are looking for a good plow truck for our apartments and subdivision, and since I know more about trucks than he does
, he put me on the main search. So far, this is looking like a good option. 1989 Ford F-350 Diesel Question is, what are your opinions on this particular year/model? I'm more familiar to newer models with Powerstrokes because that's what I grew up around, so my knowledge with IDIs and the 80s Fords is limited. We like it for the plow (obviously) and the easy dumper, which would be good on my landscaping jobs. I'm hoping to take a look at it this weekend if we can get our mechanic to go with us. |

The old IDI's are as simple as a hammer especially if backed by either the 4spd or 5spd manual transmissions .. my 94 is non turbo with 161k with the but has the E4OD auto trans its my daily driver and I've driven it a few times on long road trips up to 1200 miles round trip with no problems. If the truck your looking at has the 7.3 its hands down a great work truck the 6.9 is a little weaker but still great .... One of my buddies had an 87 f350 with a little over 320k miles with the 6.9 and granny 4spd truck ran great until the IP went out along with the clutch shortly after ... my point is these are great work horses and easy to work with and produce peak torque from idle to about 1200rpm and if you take care of them will last a long long time .. hope to see 400k on mine just to prove my dad wrong about fords (he's a GM guy) .... good luck if you buy an IDI

Thanks. I haven't been on the site in a while, but another truck option has come up as the number one choice. Still an F-350, but with the PS.
