91 f350
hey just bought a 91 f350 non turbo couple things that i have noticed drivin around is that when i go up a hill or try to pass somone it will lag all the way down to 1200 rpm before it kicks down what could cause this and i am wonderin if there is any relativly cheap things to do to milk some power out of this thing i am mechanicly able and is this motor loaded down with smog control stuff if it is what happens if i rip it out will it give me more power not worried about inspections not required where i live anything yall got would be great thanks

The motor doesnt really have any smog devices, wont even have a cat. The FIPL (I forget what its called, that might be it. Maybe TPS) is out of adjustment. If its not called a FIPL I forget what its called. Anyways its a device on the IP that sends a voltage measurement to tranny which then in turn tells it when to shift (different voltage meaning different throttle positions.
