Looking at a 92 7.3 nonturbo...newbie questions
Hello everyone any help and direction would be greatly appreciated.
Found an 92 F250 7.3 non-turbo automatic 4x4 with 108K. The original seller sold the truck for $4,000. I was bummed I missed out on this truck but recently saw it on the market again for $7,600. So I called the previous owner and this is the info I obtained.
The previous owner owned the truck for one year. Bought it for the business and was one of the trucks that wasn't being used in the down economy. Truck sat for 2 months had trouble starting it. New starter and glow plugs. Currently has a bipass switch for manually operating the glow plugs. Asked about additives for the coolant to prevent cavitation knew nothing about it. The truck shifts hard between 3 and 4th. The current owner believes that the trans has been rebuilt due to the harder shifting, but no one is certain. When the current owner was looking over the truck he mentioned something about the front end (towers, tie rods) need to be fixed would cost $300.
Also the current owner recently changed the oil. The current owner was wanting to put a flat bed on the truck but for some reason has opted to sale it???
My biggest concern is cavitation. On one site it was mentioned that cavitation happens around 150k if not treated. The glow plug hack is another concern. I have a good idea what to look for radiator, oil, trans fluid. Any other advise.
Thank you
