I have a '94 7.3L IDI Turbo and after I did some injector work on it my truck smoked like that no matter what engine temp. My friend's dad who worked for ford on these engines said that I needed to get my injectors pop tested to make sure the spray pattern is correct & the injectors are opening at the correct psi. The pop test thold me that i had 4 bad injectors, bought new ones and good as new. I see that you have a stack for exhaust so that might change the sound a little bit, but do you hear a knocking noise coming from the engine on acceleration and when you rev it up. Im no diesel expert but i would start there. the pop test will porbably not be that expensive.

i was thinking of just replacing all the injectors. they are only about $140 from pennsicola diesel for all 8. someone also told me it could be the injection pump but my truck only has 180,000 miles. the engine revs and sounds fine, i think its the stack and the video that makes it sound like its knocking.

White smoke out of a diesel is normally condensation in the fuel or exhaust system you might wanna check your fuel/water separator also this could be caused by low CN (cetane number) of your fuel you might wanna add a cetane additive , excessive fueling also creates white smoke not just black most people don't know this and finally not enough fuel and too much air creates white smoke .......... Just some info for ya .... plus my 94 IDI N/A does the same thing only just a whole lot less

I was asking what engine you had b/c as you read in my one response i have the same engine w/ the E4OD tranny. I am in need of the transmission dipstick for it & i was wondering if you had the same tranny if you could measure the markings on the dipstick for the fluid level from the top of the dipstick. It would be greatly appreciated considering the fact that you can't get the dipstick at a ford dealer any more b/c they are obsolete.

not tryin to get on ur case or anything, but just wonderin if u got those tranny dipstick measurmets yet?
just got the correct "G" code injectors for my truck yesterday and now my smoking problem is all gone & it starts good @ any engine temp. Hope ur problem is that simple!
