transmission problems
hello all my first post on this site i purchased a 89 f250 with the 7.3 idi 4x4 and auto tranny the transmission is acting funny you can put the truck in drive and it will shift fine through first and second put will not go into 3rd or 4rth you have to wiggle the shifter and it will go in if you let go of the shifter it will drop back into second but if you hold your hand on the shifter between drive and second it drives like a dream thought maybe someting in the linkage i messed with it but still could not get it to shift correctly without messing with shifter checked fluid smells good guy said the truck has an orignial 87,000 miles on it and the transmission has been gone through
