problem
talked to a guy today and he wanted me to fix his truck and i said maybe depending on whats wrong with it, he said the thermostat went bad and it overheated and it burns so much oil it took him 5 gallons to get home from i think wyoming or something, he said its a constant smoke, what do you guys think? and he said its a 93 idi that is turboed from the factory

IDI's, like many other engines, like to warp heads when overheated. If he is using a ton of oil, I would think something along those lines happened.
I would tell him to start looking for a replacement motor. I would be the heads are bad, and they are spendy to get new. A good used IDI will run around $500-750 if you are good at bargaining. |
