IDI exhaust

I was thinking about putting an exhaust on my 1990 7.3 IDI. I was thinking a dual 4in straight pipes to 6in tips. Would this cause any problems?

4" pipe is expensive.

I would just suffer and save for a turbo.

Since its naturally aspirated, you aren't going to want to run 4". Especially if you do true duals. Your exhaust velocity is going to be very low and cause you to lose power in the lower RPM range. I would do maybe 3". And you are going to want a crossover in the pipe somewhere. You want the 2 banks to come together to help flow and scavenging. Whether that being just an x pipe or running the 2 together then splitting them right before the axle.
