New to Diesels

I'm looking at getting my first Diesel truck. I've found a 1991 Ford F350 SuperCab Dually 4x2, the truck has just over 208,000 miles and the owner says that she has all of the documents from when her husband had the truck serviced.

The only thing is the truck has been sitting since her husband died, about a year ago.

Should I be concerned about that? It does have a 5-speed manual transmission, so no automatic to worry about.

It needs a paint job (Most Fords from that time do ) and it was never a work truck, it has a "ground effect" kit on the bumper and running boards and has fiberglass triangles on the back of the cab and connected to the top of the bed. The "visor" thing on the top of the cab covering the top of the windshield.

Are these age diesels trucks computerized? Is there anything specific that I need to look for? I am new to Diesels, so I would appreciate any help.

The truck sitting for a year shouldnt be a problem. My truck sat for several years before I got it. the more you run it the better itll do.

No those trucks were not computerized.

welcome to the org, regular maintenance will need to be done: change oil, fuel filters, air filters, etc. probly sould flush tranny.

Well, I ended up not getting it. I looked at it and had talked to the lady. She had told me that her son would be back in a few days and he set the price. He told me how much he wanted for it and I think that he wants WAY too much compared to the condition the truck is in now and book values. So the search in back on.

well thats alrite, people sell these trucks everyday. i'm sure u will find one, it tooke me almost 2 years to find mine! just keep lookin and get what you want buddy
