1990 f350 transmission ?

my father in law just aquired a 1990 f350 2wd single wheel cclb runs decent for sitting as long as it did but the trans doesnt shift into od. we changed the fluid and filter, drove it awhile and still nothing in od. shifts through all the other gears decently but even if you push the od switch nothing will happen, where should i start?

Yes it was the tach sensor. It controls the shifting from what I found out. It has two black wires coming out of it on the top front of the engine. Cost us like 84 dollars
