injection pump?
Hey there guys, 94 turbo idi starts up then quickly dies when let off the gas. Cranks for 10 seconds after dies then finally starts back up. cranks hard feels like its not getting fuel. After starts second time, some times it runs great like nothing is wrong at all, other times it bogs and jerks pretty bad and can idle rough. Ive heard that the injection pumps going bad are pretty common dont know best way to diagnose with out wasting money, if its not the real problem.
thanks for the help nik |

Once its running for a couple minutes, is it running good?
Could be as simple as air getting in the lines, a common fix is to buy a return line kit, fixes 90% of hard starting problems like yours. |

today it started up just fine, and idled fine in drive way, once on the road for the first mile or two, it ran like ****. Throttle felt like it was sticking, when you accelerated didnt notice much, but when let off gas truck jerks really bad. did the same thing yesterday when i drove it, but also expierenced the starting problems i mentioned before. Again started right up today first go, but drove like **** for a couple minutes. After the first mile or so, everything seemes to be normal. also Have noticed a whine when i start it up some times, only on the first start of the day. after you rev it up whine goes away, but when rpms drop back down whine comes back for a few seconds.
I dont know if the two are related, but trying to give as much imput as i have. |

hey justin,
i think you might be right on a leak in the return lines, i could hear some pressure coming out of one yesterday. The truck sat for almost 2 days and now it wont start. im guessing all the pressure and fuel has drained out of return lines, is that a logical reason why it wont start? thanks nik |
