6 speed tranny noises!

I left a post about this the other day too. I have a strange noise coming from my tranny/clutch. Alot of the time it happens at a lower RPM in say 3rd or 4th gear is when i hear it the most, but i do hear it in other gears just not as much. It kind of sounds like a "vuhvuhvuhv" say that fast its kind of a humming. Its really getting me irratated and i want to get it fixed. My truck is going to need a new clutch as it is because it slips with the chip in. But if anyone else has had this problem let me know. its a 2000 7.3 with a 6 speed

could be a few things...could be noisy gears...a worn input shaft or pilot bearing...or a worn tranny bearing. All of these are going to be tough to diagnose over the internet....

Don't know about the noise but, I would definatly get that clutch replaced. It's a Ford joke. Make sure you replace it with a 4 or 5spring disc. Preston

The springs in the pressure plate do not cause the throwout bearing to make a noise but they will come apart and destroy the whole assembly. Maybe even take out the input collar. I wish I had a picture of the oneI did last week. It was the most destroyed clutch assy I have ever seen and it did cut the input collar into. Preston
