Help with Possible trannie problem

I have a 97 crew cab with Auto. When I accelerate I get a hesitation and vibration for a little bit then it clears up once it picks up speed or if you let off accelerater a little. Could this be something slipping like torque converter or clutch? Thanks for Help

It sounds like you could have some slippage going on. How many miles is on your truck? Does the tranny fluid look or smell burnt?

Thanks Deeno, Oil doesn't smell burnt and I purchased about 4 months ago and the previous owner said it was rebuilt in Jan 06. 180000 on the truck

If you can get in contact with the previous owner, I believe I would do so and ask him if the torque converter was replaced when the tranny was rebuilt. Still, if the converter was going bad or if the clutch in the converter was slipping, over time that would burn and discolor the fluid. Are you sure it's tranny related? Could it possibly be the engine itself hesatating? Notice any excess smoke coming from the exhaust

Denno the reason I was guessing the tranny was I don't get any shutter in the RPM's and it doesn't feel like the motor. Tranny fluid is full, bright red and has no burnt smell to it. The previous owner only had it a short time and wasn't the one who had it rebuilt. I have a TS chip in it and thinking of unplugging it to check and the only smoke comes when you get on it hard with the HP turned up to 75.

Let us know if unplugging thge chip took care of your problem. Maybe one of the techs on here will chime in with some advice. Also, you could try posting your problem over in the 7.3 tranny problems forum if you haven't done so already. Sorry I couldn't be much help

Thanks for your help Deeno and I thought I was in the 7.3 tranny problems forum. Scott the truck is a 4x4 but stock height and I checked the u-joint. Just trying to run down an idea. Maybe a tech will have an idea. Thanks
