Tranny question
OK I have searched around and havent seen this yet. I have a 99 cc F350 4x4 with 130xxx miles and it did this for the second time today. Under a heavy load when pullin the trans starts pukeing fluid beepbeepbeepbeep near til its empty (like 12qts) today. Now has a lil burnt smell but with fresh fluid away I go and still pulls fine. Oh and when it was low the od light on the shifter blinks and the tc doesnt unlock. I put fluid in and turned the truck off and started back and no light light and the tc works fine. I thinking the tc might be shucked or maybe a clutch pack. Im not really sure because Im not firmilliar with an auto trans. Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks in advance, Jeremy |

that usually indicates an overheat condition, and the first thing i would do is add on a secondary trans cooler. it is tough to say what is causing your problem...but chips increase line pressure, and therefore need more cooling....and if you have a trans problem, you build more friction....and thus tend to overheat the fluid also.....you could have a fan clutch not working properly....but usually your engine temp would be high also......im thinking that you may have either a plugged trans cooler or an internal trans problem, but the extra cooler will not hurt anything and is worth a try.......

What about mounting it right in the tranny pan, good or bad idea?
