NooB to the diesel world!!!!

Hey guy's, just bought my first diesel. an 03 crew cab F350. Quick question, my tranny shifts hard into 3rd gear. took it by a transmission shop that a buddy works at and he says it feels like the torque convertor clutch. He thinks it's a little on the harsh side but says he wouldn't be overly concerned. The only reason I ask is b/c I purchased a 3 month drivetrain warr. with the truck and don't know if I should try to warranty it or let it ride. Anyone else had any similar happenings???

Welcome to the forum!!

Its tough to say for sure....but generally the 4R100 has a pretty soft shift...so i would venture to say either you got lucky and got a firm shifting one or you may want to push the issue of there being a problem....though to say from a distance though..

If you have the warranty and think its an honest problem, take it in for repair!

I'm going to another trans shop in the morning to get a second opinion, but from what my buddy was talking he was kinda leaning toward the hard shifting being a good thing.
I just know it's gonna be like pulling teeth to get that warranty company to pay out, just want to make sure the battle's even necessary.
