03 powerstroke automatic?????
what auto tranny does my truck have i think its susposed to have a 4 speed but it feels like the overdrive off has two different sides to it?
when i hit the od off button it down shifts and then it feels like it shifts in to a different gear. but i know its not the second gear. |

The constant up and downshifting if this is truely it sounds bad. As for the converter locking up, it is perfectly normal especially when downshifting. The way to tell if the converter is locked up is the tach will lock in position whether or not your are giving it gas. When the converter isnt locked up, it acts like a rubber band(only example I can think of guys.) It allows the motor to rev up without directly locking it to the tranny, kinda like letting the clutch slip in a manual tranny. When the converter locks up, its just like a manual tranny being in gear, in that its a solid connection between the motor and tires.

if its a 7.3 its a 4r100 the 6.0 had the 5r100
sounds like TC is going, how many miles on it, any fluid changes? |
