Tc?

Ok gentlemen, I have been trying to describe what my tranny does under 1/2 to wot and I think I got it figured out. As I have stated before, With the TS chip, Under normal daily driving, my shifts are just like stock. Under heavy acceleration, my 2-3 and 3-4 shift have what I have called a "stall". The forward momentum slows as the shift cycle starts and theres a hesitation of 1/2 second or so before the "BANG" shift in your back. I noticed something today that might help with the correct diagnosis of what is going on. Under hevy throttle today, As the 2-3 and 3-4 shift started the shift cycle, the forward momentum slowed and as I awaited the hard shift I watched the tach. My rpms flared 2-300 rpms before the BANG shift. I think this is called slipping. IS it The torque converter slipping b4 it locks up or is it the tranny. All is normal except when you give heavy throttle under acceleration at these two shift points. Does my diagnosis sound right or am I way off? Thanks for any input. I have been trying to solve this riddle for a month now and now that I have actually watched and seen the rpms flare a little before the hard shift, It all sort of makes sense.

What happens when you let off the brake and let the truck idle in D on a level road? Is there any rattling noise while the truck is idling?

This is what I've scrounged up for ya from other posts... it may not directly reference but you may want to have a look!

If you need trans parts or a T/C you could try calling David at www.dieselinnovations.com (ask about UCC w/ dodge guts), the boys at www.suncoastconverters.com or Brian at www.brianstruckshop.com others include ATS and John Wood. Expect to pay 600+ and it should be able to handle all the power your TS chip puts out. You can go with a new OEM style TC which is now triple disk, and that should be able to hold your increased decently.

Procedure if you're doing it yourself.
On replacing it, it's not "easy", but it is doable if you have the time and the right tools.
Unplug all the connections to the tranny/xfer case. Which should be two wire harnesses, and the shift linkage to the MLP sensor.
Then take the TC bolts loose from the flexplate, there should be six of them.
You obviously have to drop the transmission, which means you'll need a GOOD tranny jack.
Take Driveline loose
Support tranny and remove crossmember, and skid plates if any.
Take Bellhousing Bolts loose, six of them 17mm IIRC
Slide tranny back to unseat TC from flexplate, and drop down when it is clear.
When reinstalling the converter PAY ATTENTION to make sure the converter is fully seated in the pump.

You need to start the converter in to the tranny and begin to rotate it slowly while pushing it in. You should feel THREE clicks as the converter sits into place each time.
The 3rd click it should be seated into the pump, at that time the converter should just below the rim of the bellhousing if you lay a straight edge across it, it SHOULD NOT protrude from the bellhousing.

I would also recommend a new pump seal, pan filter, and pump mods while it's out.
