Clutch answers?

I've had good luck with Centerforce dual friction clutches in Hi-Pro vehicles. My rockcrawler has one and I can pull the tires off the ground, good gription!

I have heard quite a bit of good stuff about the centerforce clutches as well. But it never hurts to do your homework and just get on some diesel sites. Check out atsdiesel.com and see what they've got for you

ive seen a lot of sites selling luk for 599 but i don't know how good they are. i know 1 thing my truck picked a bad time to start needing parts with x mas here. i need a clutch and a turbo pedistal. how long does a clutch last in these trucks. mine only has 95000 miles on it. and i don't think it has done much towing. there r no signs of a brake controller being hooked up and no gooseneck hitch so i don't think that it should have went out already. unless my pedistal has been leaking oil down into the bell housing

yeah we had a 99 f450 service truck had that probeblem except it was with the high pressure oil lines leaking up near the high pressure oil pump and the oil was running down the v of the engine and dripping right on the clutch discs needless to say the clutch doesent grip that well when its soaked in oil so we loaded it up on the lowboy and took it to the dealship and they fixed everything under warrenty. Any one else had a probeblem with high pressure oil lines leaking on thier truck my 01f-250 pu truck did it when i got it i havent heard of anyone having a simmiliar problem

the high pressure o rings are the most common leaks. the two that are easily seen are just to the drivers side of the fuel filter housing, but lower than the bottom of the housing. they are on the high pressure oil pump. there will be two lines with a quick connect fitting (quick connect has a black ring around it and requires a special tool to disconnect). look for major oil leaking around those two lines with the engine running, or a ton of wet residue around them if they wont leak with the engine running. sometimes you can see a piece of the o ring blown out from under the fitting , and there is also an 18mm head plug on the back of the pump that you can see from the top, but you can only look for it leaking with a mirror. also, you can see the turbo pedestal from the front, passanger side of the vehicle. look over the hot side (out of the turbo to the intercooler) CAC (charge air cooler) tube right after it comes off of the turbo, and look from there to the rear of the engine. there are two places for leakage. look were the turbo meets the pedestal, and where the pedestal meets the block. there are two o rings at each location (one small, and one lare) and they are the the same o ring on the block to pedestal and pedestal to turbo (one small and one large one at each location). if the upper ones look wet, you just need to replaced the one small one and one large one at the top of the pedestal. if the lower ones are leaking, you will need to replace all four since you will have to take the turbo off to take the pedestal off to allow access to the lower o rings. these are the two most common leaks that leak into the valley of the motor and then drip off of the back of the motor to the bellhousing. also, make sure the clamps for the orange tubes that run from the turbo manifold tho the heads are tight, these are known to leak too, and they, and CAC tubes, tend to leak more if the air filter is dirty, or if they have leaked in the past due to a dirty air filter and they were not tightened after the new air filter was installed. the orange tubes have 8mm(5/16) worm clamps, and the cac tubes use screw style clamps with 11mm(7/16) nuts. make sure not to overtighten these nuts, as they will strip. tighten them till the spring below them bottoms out and no more than that.......Marc
