e40d trans

i have a 1996 f350 with a e4od and i lost 1 2 drive but i still have reverse. dose anyone have any ideas on what might have failed?

Is the CEL on or is the overdrive light flashing???

Most tranny shops will diagnose it for free so you might look into that
