1999 7.3 Manul Trans Problem

Have a 1999 f250 with the 7.3 w/manul trans, it is a 6 speed, in my previous post i listed it as a 5 speed, forgot about the extra low gear. Anyways, have onwed this truck for 4 years and have had problem shifting the trans up and down when the truck goes on long trips say anything over 100 miles, when you press the clutch petal in, it acts like the clutch needs an extra 1/4 of an inch to disengage. I have replaced the clutch slave and master cylinders, and no change, is really a pain, cuz it will do it at the most inopportune times, and there you set, can't get it into gear. It seem if you punp the clutch petal a bunch it will let you into gear. Any Ideas?? Thanks

im guessing your pressure plate is getting weak. When i bought my escort, it would do the exact same thing...put a new clutch and pressure plate in and i havnt had the problem since

Have you checked your clutch fluid. I had this problem on my 88 F250. I just filled the resivor and bled the lines and now it works fine. It could also be your synchros. I think thats how you spell it.

there are several things it could be , pressure plate binding , clutch disc cracked and spring trying to pop out , those models were bad for that, clutch hydraulics not bled properly, also in 99 and 2000, year models seem to be the worst for eating up pilot bearing bad ,and also last but not least the clutch fork inside the trans the release bearing rides on would also crack or bend , there is a updated part for that , so in saying all this what im getting at is the best thing for you to do is remove the trans and inspect all the components and then go from there

is there a correct procedure for bleeding the clutch on a 99.5 psd?
i just take the slave out and push it in, and manually do that a few times... there isnt a bleed screw or anything like that...

there is not any certain way that works best , they are aggrivating either way , its best just to buy the ford kit that is completely assembled and prebled , works great and easy to install

i have 99 6 speed to and i have the same problem just pump the clutch a few times when you have time it is usually when i am pulling somthing and i stop and the clutch is hott then it does it i dont think it is sycronizers cuz you can still get in gear but sycronizers hold it in gear it would just pop out once you had it in

most shifting concerns are due to clutch not disengaging , most likely not internal trans concern
