My trans. took a dump.....:(

I have a 99 power stoke automatic and my reverse and neutral went out. In the reverse gear and neutral gear it would actually go foward. But when you put it in Drive it would shift out just fine. The truck had 249K on it and the Trans has never been touched. IM going back with a billet torq cov. but I want a better valve body then a stock. I do alot of towing with it. Whats the best valve body for the price and where do I find it. IM also going to put a trans cooler with the electric fans to keep the heat down, so maybe it will last longer.

99 F250 Stroker, 4 inch pro comp lift, 20' hello wheels, 36-15.5 Mickey Thompson tires, TS 140 chip, Propane, C2 gauges, custom interior, 7 inch shorty stack, and lots more

Nothing bad about the stock valve body, just get one of the many shift kits available and tweak it like you want. If you tow what needs upgraded is the low reverse drum (it's stamped tin), forward planet set (it's aluminum you want steel), get good clutches, and the latest pump mod kit. Put your money in good hard parts, a 3 disk converter and lots of good cooling if you want a trans that will hang in there towing. Unless your V/B is shot don't waste money on a new one.

This stuff is E4OD mostly and you will likely have an 4R100 but they are almost the same trans, small tickey/tacky differences but still important. Biggest difference is the center support in 4R100 is much better, and often put in the E4OD with a bit of machining work.

Look hear for some performance hard parts.
E4OD, 4R100 Transmission from PATC, E4OD, 4R100

This is a great deal on a performance rebuild kit, no hard parts.

Do you have a builder or is it DIY time? I did mine, even made my own tools. I have a link for that also some place if you want it. Took 2 full weekends as I had never been inside an auto before, but it went great. I have done 3 autos now and will never send one out again.
Good shopping to ya!

Hey 99strokinandsmokin...I haven't saw you since the Truck Pull in Temple Hill. I was the one who found you the Hitch/Clevis. Sorry to hear about your tranny. We're gonna have to get together this spring and line em up for fun. I don't know how much of that Propane I can handle Maybe we can all meet up sometime either before or at the TS Performance Diesel Day.

The fluid starts to loose it's lubricity at 180 and by 190 damage that will shorten the units life is tacking place. If I see 180 I will get out of it and cool it down. If it is getting up there you should look into getting more cooling for it.
