do anyone have any problems with shifting the 6 speed tranny? I have to double clutch in order to downshift. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?

Got you message, thanks. i think you may have a slave cylinder going out or you might be low on hydrolic fuild in the actual reservoir .you should be able to access it under hood .If its low top it up .It might take several applications of the clutch to bring back full travel. Let us know if this helps.

I'll try that. I'm just hopeing it's not something major. I've talk to other people who had said that this is very common in the 6 speed. Would the shift adapter help?

it could be the pressure plate as well.....the best test for the slave is to first put it in reverse with the truck at a complete stop. Reverse has no syncros, so if the slave is bad, the clutch wont disengage enough and it will grind going into reverse. the only reason i would question the pressure plate is if you are only having the symptom with the flywheel spinning faster, i would wonder if the springs are getting weak.......

all that said, the slave is about ten times more common than a bad pressure plate. a note though, DONT buy just a master or just a slave. you can buy Pre bleed combos that are more than worth the extra money for. it will be the slave, master, and resevour all together, and you also need to replace the rod that connects the master to the pedal..........Marc

I have a similar problem, the transmission will not grind when putting it into gear but you have to use a lot of force when stopped or when down shifting, truck wants to start moving with clutch right to the floor, I am assuming that it is the Hydrolic Cylinder but 6 mo ago my fly wheel was making noise and has recently stopped so I am assuming that the bearings have seized in it.
Any trouble shooting ideas??? And if it is the Slave cylinder how hard are they to change???
