Transmission Question/Problem?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey guys, I just bought a 2000 F350 with 133,000mi on the odometer. Today I decided to hook up the Edge programmer and use the "data stream" mode to see what was going on since it doesn't have gauges YET. I bought it with level 1 already "installed" on the truck. I haven't really noticed any problems with the transmission at all. Only thing that is kind of weird is as soon as it shifts into 4th/OD the torque converter locks up. I assumed maybe this was normal since everything seems fine (It actually took me a week of driving it to notice). Anyway, the programmer reads Oil temp, Trans Temp, Transmission line press. and Exhaust back pressure. Everything looked ok. Transmission temp around 140-150 depending on throttle/hills, but line pressure was really low....5 PSI at idle in all gearshift positions and went up as throttle was applied. It never got about 45 psi or so. I find it very hard to believe that it is only getting 5 psi at adle and never above 50 psi with this programmer and the transmission doesn't seem to slip (even at full throttle) and the shift quality seems good too. Is it possible a sensor is bad or something? Any ideas would be great. Thanks. -Aaron |

I didn't think it would run as good as it does if the pressure was really that low. I'll have to see if I can hunt up a gauge and connector that will work. I am familiar with the port you are talking about. Anyone know what size the threads on that port are? Also, anyone know where that (Line pressure) sensor is? -Aaron |

It's 1/8 pipe thread.
There is no line pressure sensor. What you're reading is an "educated" electronic guess. Preston |
