Strange noise in O/D while boosting

Im getting this almost like chirping noise aroung 12 psi and up in overdrive. Sounds like its from the turbo but not sure. I dont think it compressor surge. It has been doing it alot and it gets annoying, also more noticable when im towing. Help appreciated

Matt

Question Boost noise

Sounds like a leak in the air charge system. A little hole in one of the connectors most likely.

I believe my truck is doing the same thing. I dont think its turbo surge though. When Im accelerating and the tranny gets into 3rd or 4th, the turbo repeatedly makes the exact same sound as the coughback u get when u build up a considerable amount of boost and then let out all of a sudden. Its very similar to a BOV in a turboed car.

I've heard similar on some of our firetrucks when there was a leak on the pressure side of the turbo plumbing. Sometimes when fittings aren't tight enough or have been pulled to where it leaks a little when at higher boost it makes a squealing/chirping sound as the air is being forced through a tiny spot. Sort of like letting the air out of a balloon slowly.
