trys to die on hills
I have a 97 F250 with about 170,000 on it. My problem is, when ran hard or on a hill it has no power at all. It just dies out and runs like beepbeepbeepbeep. But if you let it sit there for a little bit it will catch back up and run fine. It's almost like its not getting fuel. Ive changed the fuel filter. That didnt help a bit. Theres no lights or anything on. Truck starts great and never shuts off, just wont rev on hills or after ran a little hard.

i agree with these guys, check your fuel pressure and check to see if the pump is leaking (back of the valley of the motor, just below the turbo). if there is an apparent fuel leak that is the first thing to change, and if no leak, check your fuel pressure and we will go from there, i would doubt it is a slipping trans, or the RPM's would still climb......it would act more like a slipping clutch in a manual.

I agree with the fuel pressure check. What a difference that makes in sound and smoothness. Since it is on hill's only I take it. What about a fuel pickup problem. I know my 99.5 superduty started two weeks ago dieing out of the blue. But it was clear that it was running out of fuel. They chug so hard it feels like the driveline is comming out. Well whats happening is it started running out of fuel at the 1/4 tank mark and buy refueling I know there is fuel in there. I wanted to do the pickup and return line mods anyway.
