injector cup replacement

Anyone seen any files that talk about doing this? I know there is a special tool for it, but with the tool do they just screw in? press in? what?

Im still pissing coolant out of the overflow after doing cooler gaskets, and considering its got a leaking rear main and grinding syncros meaning i need to swap out trannies, and I jacked up my front fender meaning I need to take the clip off, and the only thing left for my engine problems is headgaskets, cracked head or inj cups I am just going to take off the front clip then using a forklift going to pull the engine/tranny out and do headgaskets, valve job, inj cups, rear main, tranny and maybe a non dual mass flywheel swap all at the same time.

But wondering what there is to this injector cup thing, and if its somehting I can fab a tool or something to do when the heads are off the truck.

Or do I just gotta take it to the international shop or somehting? I dont think theres many diesel specialty machine shops here.

Thumbs up did one

well I did one on a tow rig.the tool was $350.and it theads down in the cup and there is a bolt that on the top of tool and you krank that and it lifts the cup out.its like a gear puller.and in the tool kit.there is a wire brush and a dummy injector thats what you push the new cup in with.I drained everything out that motor first.cleaned the hell out those holes and sprayed brake cleaner and let dry,use air.then I used high temp tread lock on cups/blue.then tapped them in with that injector and hammer and you can hear it bottom out.put your real injector back in and bolt down and leave over night.flush it out good /everything.Its not that bad.just takes time. How much is used heads at bone yard?ps you will need new injectors or O-rings and copper rings

Hmm, you able to snap some pics of the tools?

Doesnt sound too hard to make, especially the puller. Did you get the OTC tool?

You wouldnt happen to have any mics that you could use to measure diameters of the dummy injector do you? I could probably have one cut out of aluminum or brass on a lathe.

Heck, if i could get some help on the specifics of it I could draw up the results in autocad and post them, then others looking to do it could get the peices made in advance.

Thumbs up cups

well I have a frend that works for the handy van and thats how I got mine.go down to ford and ask to see one and spec it out.they have tool and cups there. or the bus company.I,m sure you can find one ,somewhere in your town??? if you have a junk injector, just take off O-rings and solenoid.tap a 1/4 or 1/2 plate to it.so you can hit it down.and the tool to take out cup.i think you can get plumbers pipe from home depo and twist that in there and pull the cups out.sorry dont have pics dont have disc for camera.Hey man your new name is:MR MCGYVER.,I LIKE THAT
