Question BATTERY DISCHARGE LIGHT

My problem is simple i think, but maybe someone out there has delt with it before,my 2000 7.3's battery discharge light started blinking when i was on rough roads so i started hunting down the short,i did'nt find it until after the alt went bad at whitch time i found it was the a/c pump plug so after a new alt and plug the light was still on,and then the turn signal switch went and got replaced now the light is still on but no battery drain is being noticed, can any one tell me if there is a relay for this or a reset for the computer that may be causing my problem,i have also changed the blinker relay and still no help ANY DIRECTIONS would help.

My battery light too!

The battery light on my 2000 Ford Excursion has been on and off for the last two weeks. I put conductive paste on the 2-wire connection - no change. But I heard about a trick last year - I tried it over the last two weeks - you take a blunt instrument and give the alternator a whack - sometimes it takes 2 or 3 - the light goes right out! Any suggestions on what's going on???

PS: the alternator was not harmed in any way in the whacking. I usually hit it on the mounting bolt head...

Flashing battery light too

I just took my 7.3 on an 800 mile trip and developed the same problem. There seems to be no discharge on the battries just the flashing light. The only diffrence is we used the AC on this trip. Thanks for any help folks!

Seriously guys, this is not a fix.

This is very possible. There are 3 or 4 bolts, 1 nut, and a clip harness hold this thing on. Everyone who is having this issue, please remove your alternator and have it bench tested.

Also, check the harness for any bare wire or corrosion.

Honest and Helpful

Folks thanks for the help It's nice to get some answers with no b.s. unlike some other forums. I did use the B.F.H. solution and a ton of dust came out of my alternator with the engine running and the light stopped flashing. I do agree the alternator does need a bench test the B.F.H.is not a fix. This just gives me an excuse to drive around my j10 jeep on superswamper LTB's for no good reason untill the F250 is sorted out!
Thanks again for the response everyone!
