HELP! big problem, lots of smoke

my first thread, so please be patient with me. I got a 02 F250 250k had it for the last 100k, been running good, not anymore. it started out w/ a little white smoke one day pulling in to school. during lunch, took it for a spin and is dumping some black smoke, more pedal, more smoke. still runs good other than a little missing at idle plenty of power. next morning, its dumping alot of white smoke at idle, lots!!! still missing under 1000 rpm, revs up, most smoke goes away, still plenty of power. the smoke has a strong smell to it, like a chemical or something. tried putting diesel kleen and adding fuel to dilute in case it was bad fuel. no different. ran it for codes, none took my superchip off, no different, oils good coolants good, (by the way i only have water for now, no antifreeze, so its not antifreeze burning) i tried running it on started fluid w/ ignition off, ran fine w/o smoke, so that tells me its got good compression, no gasket or ring problem, probly fuel system. changed the fuel filter, no different, pulled the filter and filled it w/ lucas and ran for a minute and it seemed to run w/ less smoke.ran it out of that tank, got new fuel, no different. oh, i forgot, at high rpm while accelerating(balls to the wall) you can hear a pop, pop, a missing sound, other than that its still got power, where do i start? i got a quote from a shop to scan it for 85, 240 per injector, 300 +,-, labor, including compression check. could it be a regulator? high oil pump? how much is the street price per injector? ahahahahah!!!!!

its gonna be an injector....or injector o rings....or a weak HPOP, IPR valve...etc in the high pressure system....

Honestly testing this with non specific equipment is gonna be almost impossible....

If it was down on power it could be other things...but since power is good its gotta be one of these...more than likely related to the injector itself (injector or o rings)

Thumbs up Bump

The Ford Specific Scan Tool I have Used can do an injector test, one by one , therefore isolating the bad one, "I Believe".
Go with What Marc Says, He knows his apples and oranges, No Doubt.

The ? Is what is the going labor rate for the replacement of 1 injector ? AND//
IF it's only an O-Ring issue do you trust the shop you are going to , to not bill you for an injector when all you may need is a $5.00 /O-Ring ???
Do some calling around, and let me know what you find out, after 1445hrs today. GOOD LUCK.............
