extremely rough idle

ok this is my situation i was entering on to the highway and while on the entrance ramp i suddenly lost some power so i pulled over and when i slowed down enough to where my rpms were about at the idleing range my truck just started to shake vigoriously and also started makeing lots of noise like it was running on 5 cylinders so i took it into a diesel and import shop and they put a scanner on it and he said that my oil pressure was speratic and i need a new oil pressure regulator would an oil pressure regulator cause my truck to shake and make loud noises as if it is missfireing i called a ford dealer and they said that they had an oil pressure switch is that another name for the oil pressure regulator???? the part will cost me about 35$ (i already replaced the cps and checked all the uvc's.) also my service engine soon light is on any reply would be greatly apreciated

i second that, get the code and it will be easier to figure out the problem. is the truck a manual trans or auto????
