Hard to start...
Today my 2001 F-350 would turn over as usual but took a long time to fire up unlike the way it has always just fired up right away. While turning over it seems to have a "clicking " noise from bemeath the dash that goes away after it cranks. Any thoughts? All engine components are original with 83K miles. I just Oil/fuel filter changed about 1K miles ago.

Hmmm, could it be your starter silenoid? Seems to me I remember a clicking like that once with my rig when I was having trouble with my starter. A starter that is going out will also cause your truck to start not so fast. The starter silenoid probably isnt located right under your dash though. Just a thought. Anyone else? |

Glow Plug Relay

The constant buzzing noise that you here before the engine is started is caused by a weak battery like another member stated. the actual noise it the fuel pump relay witch is located in the lower part of the center in the dash. the fuel pump relay is the last leg in a circuit that has many things running off of it, so the result when you have a weak battery or batteries is the relay buzzing.

clicking noise
The noise you hear may be the relay in the fusebox inside the engine compartment. Try exchanging the relay for your blower motor with the one for the fuel pump..it is in your owners manual..I just changed mine and it did the trick..also use a ford part...they are cheaper than aftermarket...8 bucks...and mine would not accept the aftermarket relay.
