7.3 Mpg

I have an 01 F250 CC SB 7.3 with 46000 miles. I got 4" mbrp turbo back exhaut, K&N filter, Superchip programmer,Auto lite gauges.
Does anyone have an idea why my mileage is so poor? I average around town about 12.8 and hwy pulling about 3000 lbs i'm luck to see 11.2. I've Had it into the dealer and they have told me there is nothing wrong with, But everyone I have talked to told me that there is. I have tryed all different driving styles and nothing seem to work. Please help

What do you have your programmer set on? Also, when was the last time you changed the oil? Cleaned or replaced the air filter? Are the tires aired up?

I changed the oil about 1000 miles ago, fuel filter 900 miles ago, I keep the tire tire pressure at 50psi, I just cleaned the air filter and I have the programmer set on the highest setting right now, I have tryed all the other setting and the mileage doesn't change. I never have got go mileage with the truck except when I went through the rocky mountains in Colorado and then I was getting 17.6 mpg,and that was before all the mods. I never got good mileage when It was bone stock. The only thing I can think of is that the motor is not broke in yet.

your not alone. i have an '01 7.3l with a afe intake, mbrp exhaust and the edge evolution programmer set on 80 hp, and the mileage sucks too. i have 295/75r16 tires, and whether im on the highway or driving in the city, i get 12-13 mpg. without the programmer i get better, like 16 or so. the problem is i cant keep my foot off the pedal, with the programmer in. there just something about blowing soot all over a mitsubishi eclipse after you smoke them off the line, literally.

The only reason you could possibly be getting poor milage was if you had the 4.10 gears vs. the 3.73's. I have an identical truck with the smae mods and tire size. With the winter fuels im still getting about 15. During the summer i was getting around 18 in the city and around 21 on the highway. All of these readings were not towing anything. I bought my truck a year ago with 38000 miles on it. So i would have to say that your engine is broke in, as mine was at 38000. Check the tag on yur diff and that will tell you your gear ratio. Thats about all I can come up with. Good luck.

I check the the info br the driver side door and looked it and according to that the gears should be 3.73, but I will still be checking the the rear end it self. I bought the truck with 8000 miles on it,I wouldn't think they would change it form stock. I will get back to you on the rear end

Does anyone know what RPM they are say at 60 MPH?

Usually if there's a hard fault like the TCC not locking/solenoid failure it will make the O/D light flash.
