Wobbly Steering Wheel

My steering wheel has a lot of play in it and feels as if it is rough every now and then. You can always move it a little too much. Is there a bearing behind the wheel and if so, how do you get to it? Do I need to take the air bag fuse out to take the wheel off? What fuse is it? Is it hard to fix this problem? It is getting worse and don't want to have more problems.

Thanks in advance, Charlie

My steering was feeling tight in places when I turned sharply, like the pump couldn't keep up so I changed the pump. It didn't make any difference and as it got worse it seems to be the bearing in the steering column. I had this happen on an 84 chevy with tilt steering and they had a kit for it. My truck is a 96 but it feels the same. I'll find out if ford has a kit and post back. BTW, it was a pain to replace the bearings in the Chevy.
