Pinoin seal 1994-single rears
Is there a crush sleive in the rear axel on a 1994 f-350, single rears? Does anyone have the torque spec's for the pinion nut?

Does it have a sterling 10.25? If it does then yes it does have a crush sleeve. There is not a torque spec for the nut, but it does have a rotational torque spec 8-14 in lbs on used bearings and 16-29 in lbs on new bearings. technically your supposed to replace the crush sleeve and remove the carrier section to properly retighten the pinion. But I have done it many times by measuring the rational torque with a dial inch pound torque wrench before disassembly, replace the seal then reinstall the yoke and nut and tighten down to 2-4 inch pounds of rotaional torque tighter than it was. I have done this numerous times without problems. But you must measure the torque before disassembly and use a socket and ratchet to tighten not an air gun!! |
