Front Differential Cover Removal
I was under my 1996 F-250 this weekend and noticed that the front differential was leaking. I didn't think removing the diff cover would be that difficult EXCEPT my truck has the Off Road package. It appears that the skid plate has to be removed to access the diff cover. If that is the case it looks like it is held on the driver's side by the upper and lower ball joint bolts, runs through the driver's side leaf spring u-bolts, bolts around the diff cover, and bolts on the left side somewhere in the middle of the differential. Am I correct, that the skid plate must be removed? If this is the case, if anyone who has done this has any tips, I would appreciate their advice.
Thanks in advance, Justin. |
