mine is popping a LOT. if i don't touch the gas, it's cool, but as soon as i do with the wheel turned, it's like nothing i've ever heard before.. rapid-fire destruction coming from the rear of the truck is the only way i can describe it. i'm going to go check the u-joints, but i'm afraid it's something inside there. anybody got a good rebuild how-to?

My old ranger did the same. Pulled the cover off and what happend was the limited slip clutch packs had wore out so bad and became so thin it pulled the spider gears away from eachother and they started to jump eachother. I just put a new rear end under the truck. Had a parts truck. If was alot easyier than rebuilding the rear end. good luck.

so how hard is it on a scale of 1-5 (heck or 1-10 i'm not picky) to fool with a rear end? i've done lots of work on my vehicles but never a differential.

It wouldnt be hard to pull the diff cover and check it out. Might be able to figure out what it is just by looking at it.
